You've seen all the covers from Time and The Week Magazines from your first week out of school in May through this week- your first back in school. Each cover is carefully chosen to present a story from the week of national importance that people will be interested in learning about- and that people should learn about. Covers are designed to sell magazines. Sometimes the two magazines featured the same cover story in the same week- more often they didn't. And, when the same stories were featured, the "spin" was different. Magazinescompete for readers.
Given the kind of cover stories that you've seen through the summer, and what you've followed in the news this week. What do you think should be the next cover story for Time and/ or The Week in their next issue which will come out this weekend? (Actually- The Week is skipping a week as they only publish 48 issues per year.)
Please name the story in the title of your message, then explain why you believe it is important. Tell what more you want to learn about the story.
You can earn extra credit by posting your own message, or by responding to someone else's message with comments and questions.
Once the actual magazines come out- this discussion board will continue with discussion about the cover story that Time and/ or The Week actually chose.
Will anyone predict correctly?
Yes!!!- Thomas Logalbo suggested that the next cover story should be something about the demonstrations in Charlotte V.A. that turned violent. Here is the new cover of Time Magazine.
